HELPFUL TIPS

Make sure your registration sticker and your inspection sticker for your vehicle have not expired.  Police often set up local checkpoints to make sure of this.  If either sticker has expired, you will get a ticket.

Make sure your headlights, tail-lights, back-up lights, brake lights, hazard flashers, and signals are working properly.  If they are not, you could get a ticket!

When you clean your windshield, also remember to clean your headlights and tail-lights.  This will improve your visibility, and will also make you more visible to other drivers on the road.

A traffic light turning yellow does not mean slam on the gas to see if you can make it.  It means use caution, slow down, and prepare to stop.  When the light turns green, take a few seconds to look both ways to make sure it’s safe to proceed.

“STOP” is not an acronym, and it does not mean Slight Tap On Pedal.  It means your vehicle coming to a complete stop, and not proceeding until the path is clear.  This is a 3-point violation in New York if you are caught violating this law.

Always wear a seatbelt.  Drive carefully and be safe… and keep your driving record clean.
